I can’t go back.
Practically Perfect – Part 4
When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down from the mountain, they became impatient. They wanted action; movement. So they went to Aaron to get things going.
Practically Perfect – Part 1
This is a series about how we see ourselves; and how we don’t.
I gave Cheryl a kiss as I slipped into bed. It was the real deal, slow and deep. You know how words simply fail in tender moments? This was such a moment. After I pulled back from her lips, still face-to-face, I let out a sigh and let my eyes speak.
What Can You Say?

I’ve seen a lot in 15+ years of ministry, both good and bad. I often say that nothing surprises me about people anymore. I won’t ever say that again.
Life Lessons
Someone sent me this list recently. It’s a list of life lessons — a pretty good list, I think. You can’t help but ask yourself what your own list would include.
But there’s an even more important question to ask.
Some Voices Speak Louder Than Others
I recently heard a man speak. His voice was weathered and aged, reflecting his many years of life and service. Even so, the impact of his words boomed like a thunder clap.

The Dangerous Lure of
Christian Productivity
(Note: This post is written with pastors and/or Christian leaders in mind; although, it has implications for anyone who’s following Jesus these days.)
Everything in our society ties worth to productivity:
- If I produce, I am valuable.
- If I produce well, I am a celebrity.
- If I don’t produce, I am replaced.
For spiritual leaders, the push to produce is a seductive — and dangerous — motivation. Unchecked, you become all about the show; you become the show.

Ups and Downs, Ins and Outs
I saw an article recently that talked about how SUV sales are picking up, now that gas prices are on their way down.

The Advent Conspiracy
It’s funny what happens when things get tight financially. You start really thinking about the value of money, instead of just spending it.
Today alone, two different people have told me — unprompted — that they were cutting back, and not being wasteful with money and purchasing gifts they really didn’t need.
If that strikes a chord somewhere within you, you should check this out — maybe that chord will become part of a larger symphony:
Merry Christmas!!
Or, maybe on second thought, you should.
Sometimes, I wonder if we’re making it too hard…
My car started leaking coolant recently. Uh oh, not again.
